Wild and secluded, Lake Natron is nestled in northeastern Tanzania between the Ngorongoro Highlands and the vast Serengeti plains.
Unlike other safari destinations, it’s the dramatic scenery — not the wildlife — that steals the show. This stark yet stunning landscape, shaped by volcanic activity and home to the Maasai, is both rugged and captivating.
Near by the camp is Ol Doinyo Lengai — Africa’s only active volcano. Lake Natron is one of the most alkaline in the world. Its caustic waters support millions of tiny crustaceans, drawing flocks of flamingos and making it one of the planet’s key breeding sites for these iconic birds.
Tucked within a grove of trees near the shores of Lake Natron, this tented camp enjoys a truly one-of-a-kind setting. While simple, the safari tents are clean and comfortable, each featuring a private veranda, cozy beds, and refreshing showers. After a challenging hike, an exhilarating paragliding flight or a full day of exploration, guests can unwind with a cold drink from the well-stocked bar and enjoy a hearty meal by candlelight in the camp’s inviting restaurant.
