Fusing a restored nineteenth-century Swahili sultan’s palace and Zanzibar’s first photographic studio, this multi-storied small hotel has an inner courtyard, six unique antiques-filled rooms, and one of Zanzibar’s best restaurants. All rooms but Mimi have their own private veranda; guests in Mimi are welcome to use the rooftop Tea House as their outside space. All rooms are equipped with a small fridge, air conditioner, fan, and high ceiling mosquito net.


The Rooftop Tea House Restaurant offers a popular Seafood Based, Set Five Course Taste Safari’ Degustation Menu which is prepared daily by the Zanzibari Chefs. Celebrating the Best Fishermen catch that morning. The First of the Five Courses is served at 7p.m. The Sunset Hour is an integral and pleasurable

part of the Emerson Experience’ so diners are encouraged to arrive at anytime after 5.30p.m. to enjoy a Sundowner’ before dinner and take in the views of the City’s Monuments and hear the call to prayers. Dinner is by reservation only and, as there are only twelve tables.
